These positions are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating a new suite of civil rights products and service areas which include Outreach efforts, Advice and Counsel, Accountability, and Capacity Building.For additional information about the duties of this position, please contact Aurora Quiroz-McKinney at aurora.quirozmckinney@usda.gov or 202-910-8234.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate implementation of all Civil Rights plan objectives to make recommendations that resolve identified deficiencies or problem areas.Evaluate program effectiveness, determine trends, and identify problem areas that need to be addressed.Build strong coalitions with other Agency entities including conflict management functions to ensure issues are resolved at the lowest level and in the earliest possible time frame.Advise leadership within the field service area regarding overall civil rights and responsibilities.Promote and support a positive work environment to create a climate of mutual respect and integrity.Travel Required25% or less - You may be expected to travel less than 25% of the time for this position for meetings. Specialized Experience Requirement:For the GS-13: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as of the following: Investigated and adjudicated complaints to ensure compliance with Federal Equal Employment Opportunity laws and regulations. Evaluated a management oriented civil rights program focusing on efforts to resolve individual and systemic problems; Analyzed statistical data to evaluate affirmative employment progress; Pinpointed organizational and occupational under representation and assisted in establishing goals/policies to remedy under representation.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
