Job Description:
The MSN Chair Role:The program chair role is a full-time
leadership role at the SON. The role encompasses oversight of
curriculum, student, faculty, and program development activities
for the SON. The chair participates in future planning for
expansion of the program, clinical programming and experiences for
students, and decision-making regarding community partnerships and
academic relationships with the Assistant Dean and Director of the
SON. The chair oversees student performance, student achievement,
and student policies. The chair fosters program growth through
faculty support, student experience oversight, and curriculum
development. The chair is responsible for engaging in
accreditation, licensing, regulation, and certification protocols
to maintain standards for the program.The Faculty Role:Faculty in
the TUC School of Nursing (SON) are charged with planning,
implementing and evaluating nursing curricula and defining and
measuring student learning outcomes. Faculty engage in a
collaborative process as they develop policies and procedures for
the SON; they maintain currency in their professional field and
model excellence in instruction and assessment of learning. As a
member of the larger campus, faculty are engaged in service at the
School, College and University level. They are engaged members of
their professional and geographic community and participate in
scholarly activities relevant to their faculty responsibilities and
professional discipline.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (Chair):Lead the
program for positive outcomes, growth, and development according to
current standards.Participate in program development initiatives
such as grant writing and scholarship opportunities, for the
program when available in collaboration with the Director.Work
closely with the Director for SON, to ensure that all criteria
pertaining to the program for state and national standards are met
(BRN, CCNE/accreditation, AACN, NONPF).Hold responsibility and
accountability for program related budget and spending in
collaboration with the Director for SON.Ensures that the curriculum
is developed, revised, and evaluated according to the program
learning outcomes, state, and national standards.Measures and
monitors program quality through review of student evaluations and
faculty input in collaboration with the Director for SON.Actively
engages in the student admissions process and recruitment of a
qualified, diversified, and balanced student body.Plays a key role
in hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and supporting faculty for the
program in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of CEHS and
Director for SON.Engages in teaching for the program, according to
Workload, SON, CEHS, and TUC policies.Maintains relations with
clinical agencies, affiliate organizations, and preceptors as
appropriate.Holds regular faculty meetings/workgroups within their
department.Collaborates with School of Nursing Program
administrator for key program tasks and projects.Supports IPE
development/curriculum for the program and at the College and
University level.Engages in appropriate committees across CEHS/TUC
as the program lead.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (Faculty Role):---
Advise nursing students, individually and in groups, regarding the
nursing curriculum and requirements for graduation.--- Participate
in School and University committee meetings and fulfill assigned
responsibilities.--- Participate in health-related activities in
the community.--- Assume responsibility for assigned teaching load,
including didactic coursework and clinical components.--- Develop
learning objectives, course syllabi, learning assignments and
evaluation strategies for assigned courses.--- Utilize innovative
learning technologies for traditional, blended, and online course
delivery.--- Implement a plan to generate and disseminate products
from scholarly activity.Supervisory Responsibilities:Faculty

Responsibilities:Maintain personal and professional development as
an educator, clinician, and leader for the program.Maintain
clinical experience as appropriate to the roleQUALIFICATIONS for
both positions (the Education, Training and/or related experience
needed by the person to perform the job):--- Master's Degree or
higher preferred. Master of Science in Nursing or higher degree
from a CNEA (NLN) or CCNE accredited nursing program.--- If a
Registered Nurse, must hold an active and unencumbered licensed in
the State of California by date of employment.--- FNP background
strongly preferred, with an active and unencumbered FNP license.---
If an FNP, minimum of three years cumulative clinical experience as
an FNP.--- At least one year of recent clinical or teaching
experience in academic nursing preferred.--- Teaching experience at
the graduate level preferred.--- Evidence of continuing education
in content and/or clinically appropriate to the area of
