Job Summary
Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager, with additional lead
work direction from the Head Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Trainer
II works more independently while performing the full range of
clinical athletic training functions for the student athletes of
the 11 intercollegiate teams at Sonoma State University. The
incumbent has expertise in making clinical judgements regarding
injuries and treatments and is involved in program coordination,
assists in program development, coordinates or assigns other
Athletic Trainers and provide direction and training to less
experienced Athletic Trainers, and serves as backup especially in
the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer. Primary responsibilities
include athletic training room direction, recognition, evaluation
and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; athletic training room
administrative responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical education,
kinesiology or related field of study or combination of education
and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Two years of experience providing athletic training at the high
school or college level as a certified Athletic Trainer required.
Course work in nutrition and sport psychology preferred. The
incumbent must possess and maintain a Board of Certification (BOC)
certification for Athletic Trainer and current certification, or
ability to obtain certification, in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation/automated external defibrillator (CPR/AED) and First
Aid. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with computers and
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite,
ARMS, Healthy Roster, and PeopleSoft preferred. The incumbent must
successfully complete a pre-placement exam and must possess and/or
obtain and thereafter maintain a California Driver's License.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience
and is anticipated to be in the range of $23.99 to $46.49 an hour.
This is a part time, temporary, non-exempt position. Reappointment
to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as
well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university
reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the
scheduled expiration date.
