Company The Payments Platform team at BILL empowers millions of
businesses to move money quickly and securely, driving innovation
at the heart of our financial ecosystem. As a Senior Staff Software
Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our
next-generation payments infrastructure, solving complex problems,
and enabling transformative product experiences. This is an
opportunity to deliver meaningful impact as a technical leader,
collaborating cross-functionally to champion scalable, high-quality
solutions. Responsibilities : • Architect and implement new
platform services and features that enable secure, reliable, and
high-volume payment processing. • Drive technical strategy and
provide expert guidance on designing scalable systems that meet
evolving business and compliance requirements. • Collaborate
closely with Product, Security, and Operations to translate
business needs into robust engineering solutions. • Mentor and
influence engineers across the team, fostering a culture of
learning, high performance, and shared ownership. • Lead end-to-end
technical initiatives, proactively identifying and resolving risks
and bottlenecks in complex projects. • Promote best practices for
code quality, observability, and continuous improvement across the
platform. • Champion inclusive and transparent communication,
ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals. We’d love to
chat if you have: • Deep expertise in designing and building
distributed systems, APIs, and high-scale backend services. •
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and provide
technical leadership in ambiguous situations. • Strong
communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively
with cross-functional partners. • Experience implementing security,
compliance, or risk mitigation frameworks in financial platforms. •
Passion for mentoring and inspiring engineers; commitment to
fostering an inclusive, high-performing team culture. • 10 years
experience in designing, developing, and delivering customer

future. The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for
our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are
based on a variety of factors including candidate experience,
expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts
listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits
package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability
insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health
savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company
benefits. San Jose pay range $200,800 - $251,100 USD What’s in it
