Job Description Job Description Description - Lancaster, KY Job Description: Meat Cutter Pay - $14/hr First Shift Position Overview A Meat Cutter in a slaughterhouse is responsible for breaking down carcasses into primal and retail cuts while maintaining strict safety, sanitation, and quality standards. This role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast?paced, cold?environment facility. Key Responsibilities Cutting & Processing Break down beef, pork, or other livestock carcasses into specified primal, sub?primal, and retail cuts. Trim, debone, and portion meat products according to company specifications and customer requirements. Inspect meat for quality, consistency, and safety concerns. Operate cutting equipment (saws, grinders, skinners, etc.) safely and correctly. Safety & Compliance Follow all OSHA and USDA regulations related to meat handling and food safety. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, tools, and equipment. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Practice safe lifting and cutting techniques to minimize injury. Quality Control Ensure products meet internal quality standards and yield requirements. Remove defects, contamination, or compromised product. Properly label, weigh, and package processed cuts. Teamwork & Operations Work closely with supervisors and line workers to maintain production flow. Communicate any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately. Assist in inventory rotation and storage of meat products. Skills & Qualifications Ability to work in cold environments (35–45&degree;F / 2–7&degree;C). Physical stamina: ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive motions. Understanding of sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards. Work Environment Cold, refrigerated production areas. Fast-paced and physically demanding. Exposure to raw meat, blood, and industrial processing equipment. Requires wearing protective gear (cut-resistant gloves, aprons, etc.). Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Stanford, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $14.00 - $14.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
